Vision and purpose
We support and promote men, women, and children encouraging them to live a radical lifestyle so that they make a sustainable impact in society.The family is the core of society, and what one experiences in his or her family influences the state of the nation. Therefore, we want to plant God’s values and principles into families as well as singles and equip them for service. The purpose of Family Ministries is to help singles, couples, and families from different backgrounds to found their lives on biblical truth and godly values. Furthermore, while focusing on the renewal of the family, Family Ministries seeks to bless and to aid the reformation of Switzerland for Jesus Christ.

History
The beginning of YWAM Family Ministries in German-speaking Switzerland goes back to the year 1981. Roger and Ursula Langel then lead and developed the work for over ten years (1982 to 1992). In 1984, Don Kirkby together with the Langels offered the first family camp in Switzerland. In 1986 the first Family Ministries School in Europe was started and schools continued in Wiler as well as Biel, Switzerland until 1990. Later the Langels were appointed within YWAM-Europe as Family Ministries coordinators (1993-2000). Already in 1989, Family Ministries offered an Introduction to Biblical Counseling School and the name of the ministry was changed briefly to “Family and Counseling”. In 1992, Rainer & Elisabeth Salathé took on the leadership of “Family and Counseling”. The work grew and other areas of ministry developed: a Crossroads Discipleship Training School in 1994 which continued until 2007 as well as numerous seminars and courses which are partially still offered today. In 2003, Rainer & Elisabeth Salathé with Stephan and Eva Schmid began leading Family Ministries in German-speaking Switzerland and continue to do so mainly from the YWAM-Wiler base.
