History

Youth With A Mission has had a presence in Albania since the earliest days after the country's exit from the clutches of a ruthless communist dictatorship at the beginning of the nineties.

When the Spieckers arrived in Albania, they as family were like a model family to the Albanians. As foreigners, but also as Christians in a post-communist and post-atheist country they sometimes felt like living “under the microscope”. People were interested to see how they lived and quite naturally they were modeling christian family principles to their neighbors and local friends. Since the church in Albania is very young, there are only few examples of more life experienced Christians where the younger ones could learn how to live as a family after Biblical principles. In 2000 Ned and Jorid took the Family Ministry School(FMS) and first started to work with Norway Family Ministries for some months before returning to Albania to apply the teaching there. Since then the work with families has become an integral part of their ministry in Albania.

In 2002 the first family camp was held and more followed in the years after.
